The OECD report must be viewed in the light of almost 30 years of this economic hogwash.

First step must be to change political financing laws from the present pay for access and reward. (I can't stop laughing when a U.S. politician points out corruption in another part of the world.) And especially here in B.C. where the present Liberals are a cut price bargain.

Second step must be some responsibility by the populations affected. E.G. Here in B.C. personal debt is at stratospheric levels because of the expectation of a lifestyle that is neither realistic or sustainable based on our income levels. An employers dream; someone in debt up to their neck. Get out and vote!! perfect scenario for any sitting government is a low turnout.

It's governments that need to change, "business" has now become used to getting what they want from their bought and paid for politicians, which is usually the lowest common denominator.

Governments probably realize that present economic theories are little more than a fundraiser for the next election and the social costs get kicked down the road for someone else to deal with.keithnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1400574.post-39787883486834926502011-12-14T10:57:30.547-08:002011-12-14T10:57:30.547-08:00Since it's axiomatic that only government has ...Since it's axiomatic that only government has the mandate to force redistribution of wealth, we have to ask to what extent the growing number of "free-trade" agreements fetter its ability to do that. Redistribution involves much more than taking from the rich (they would say "stealing") and giving to the poor.Scotty on Denmannoreply@blogger.com
